ILM Level 4 Award in Management
Overview
The ILM Level 4 Award in Management has been designed to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation for their formal development as a manager. The qualification also acts as bridge between Level 3 and Level 5 qualifications, preparing learners for the more rigorous demands of study at a higher level.
This concise qualification consists of two mandatory units which cover the core research, analysis and group-working skills essential to practising or potential middle managers. 'Understanding the management role' examines organisational structure and function, the roles and responsibilities of middle managers and the effect of communication and interpersonal skills on managerial performance. The final element of the unit explores the evaluation of personal development opportunities. The second mandatory unit, 'Developing management skills', concentrates on developing skills in information gathering and analysis, plus reviewing research together with essential group discussion and evaluation skills.
